Congratulations on finding this course, by finding this course you've already taken the first step to becoming a successful web designer. In a couple of weeks you could have your very own website Online if you follow my instructions, before I show you exactly what you'll be learning, let me give you a brief introduction about me, and why I created this course. My name is Dan Thompson, I live in the UK and I started working Online back in 1997. I'm currently a Web Designer/Internet Marketer/Web Host/Farmer....didn't see that one coming did you? ;-) As well as the above, I also studied, and achieved an AVCE, and an HND in business information technology. A lot of the course was focused on Web Design, I also design and maintain websites as part of my Online ventures on a daily basis, so without being big headed, I do know what I'm talking about when it comes to Website Design! So with that out of the way, let me move onto this course. This course was created with a novice in mind - that's not to say experienced webmasters won't learn a few new things from the course, but I start from the very beginning and then slowly work my way towards designing a website, and then finally getting the website online. The course comes on CD ROM and contains audio, video and written (PDF) guides. All of these are easily accessible through the CD menu that will open up automatically when you insert the CD-ROM into your computers disk drive.

Details On Distributing The CD All of the content on the CD has been created with the end user in mind. I know that a lot of people find it incredibly frustrating when following courses that seem to be explained in computer jargon, rather than plain English! That's why my written guides, and my videos don't use a single complicated term, everything is laid out in simple English that anyone can understand! All of the videos have been created exclusively for this course by me, they contain "live" screen recordings with voice narration by me so you can see what is happening on screen.
The image on your left is a screen shot taken from the "How To Use A WYSIWYG Editor" video, rest assured that the screen shot has been shrunk to fit on this page, the actual screen size for the video is a lot larger! In the video you can see on the left of your screen, I start with a blank white page, and then slowly work my way towards creating a dead simple 2 page website - you can see page 1 in the screen shot. I also include the finished design in the "Website Templates" section of the course so you are able to use it as a starting point for your own website. I also include some other simple templates, including basic 2 column, and 3 column layout templates that you can use as a starting point for your own sites. When you have finished designing your website, you need to put the site online for the world to see. A lot of guides don't cover this aspect of web design, and I find that amazing as it's the most important part! After all, what's the point in designing a website if nobody is able to see it? In two separate videos I show you just how easy it is to obtain your own domain name, and set up an account with a web host, I then show you how you can use some free software to "upload" your website to your web host. Like the other videos, they include "live" screen recordings as well as audio narration to make it as easy as possible for you to follow.
